Hoops, Heroes and Chutzpah!
The Mandell JCC’s 21st Annual Hartford Jewish Film Festival is on
the map and here to stay!
Join us for a whirlwind adventure. We will cross the globe and jump
through the decades in pursuit of our favorite films of 2017.
Connecticut loves basketball…especially in March! So, it is only
fitting that our journey begins in Tel Aviv with Tal Brody and the
1977 Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team. Watch this ragtag group of
players as they begin their miraculous quest for the European World
Over the next 10 days, we will visit Belgium, England, France,
Germany, Holland, India, Israel, Italy, Switzerland and the United
States, as we see heart-warming comedies, docudramas, and a murder
mystery -just to name a few. There will be 17 feature films to keep
your eyes glued to the silver screen.
Some films will tug at your heartstrings. Others will stick with you
for days. Still others will leave you rolling with laughter in the
theater aisles. We truly do have something for everyone.
Long before the popcorn is popped and the lights are dimmed, there
was a team hard at work. Without them, there would not be a Mandell
JCC Hartford Jewish Film Festival. Thank you to the hard working
committee for their love of film and constant support. Thank you to
the Mandell JCC Staff who always go the extra mile, to our
volunteers who are always ready to answer the call to help, and
special thanks to our business partners and vendors.
Thank you to those who make it possible for us to bring this
first-rate event to Connecticut every year: the Jewish Federation of
Greater Hartford’s Annual Campaign, the Jewish Community Foundation
and the Mandell JCC Pillars Society and Pacesetters. We truly
appreciate your continued support. And finally, thank you to the
many Mandell JCC corporate partners, organizations, local business,
theaters and media sponsors and generous individual and family
And finally, a very special thank you to Harriet Dobin, without whom the lights would not be so bright.
Her 10 years of dedication to our festival has turned it into one of Greater Hartford most anticipated
events of the year. We wish her all the best in her next adventure!
Mark your calendars for March 16-26, 2017. We will see you at the
